Beginning in 2019, Fresh Art embarked on a mission to create episodes and related content from the voices of our future. The Student Edition by Fresh Art presents conversations about creativity with emerging makers and producers from schools and universities in the United States and Canada.
SPRING 2020: SHAPING THE WORLD WE LIVE IN
From March 2-6, 2020, university and art school students took over Fresh Art International for the school week, with daily episodes and essays. Find out what issues and ideas spark their creative impulse in conversations we recorded in Chicago, Detroit and Toronto, and the student-written responses to these voices from the University of Miami. Given opportunities to explore and experiment, students are discovering how they can shape the world they live in.
FALL 2020: MIAMI MOVES ME
In January 2020, Fresh Art founder Cathy Byrd began to introduce podcasting and South Florida’s cultural landscape to a small group of students at the University of Miami. They explored the city to record and produce their own podcast: Miami Moves Me. At mid-semester, field expeditions came to an abrupt halt and classes went online due to the pandemic. UM podcasters met the challenge—producing eighteen episodes based on their research, field recordings, and interviews. Fresh Art’s Giselle Heraux and Jahné King introduce our Fall 2020 Student Edition, with six stories from the Miami Moves Me archive.
